How to sell a course as a podcast

Team Fonaria June 2026 6 min

A course in podcast form is listened to where people already listen to everything else and lends itself to being followed in order. Here are the steps, from idea to payment.

1. Prepare the episodes as a journey

Split the material into episodes of manageable length, each with one goal, and put them in order. Listeners should always know what the next step is.

If you already have a course in another format, reuse its structure: each module becomes a season, each lesson an episode. If you have transcripts, attach them: apps show them next to the episode.

2. Publish in a private podcast

You upload the episodes to Fonaria and publish them in a private podcast. Each person will get a personal link to open in the podcast app they already use, with no login.

3. Let people try with the free preview

You can make some episodes free: people who sign up for the preview hear only those. When they buy, the same link opens up on every episode and they have nothing to add.

4. Sell access

The money lands in your Stripe account. Fonaria delivers the link to whoever paid and closes access on a refund or cancellation.

The cost is a fixed subscription plus a 10%, 7% or 5% commission depending on the plan. The pricing page has a calculator that runs it on your numbers.

5. Release episodes over time

Instead of opening twenty episodes at once, you can release them at regular intervals from each person’s sign-up: the first straight away, the others a few days apart.

Listeners find a new episode at each step. The article on gradual release explains how to set it up.

6. Invoice data

When the buyer asks for an invoice, we collect the data you need at checkout (tax code or VAT number, recipient code or certified email, address). You issue the invoice; if they do not ask, it stays recorded as a receipt sale.

Check your tax setup with your accountant before you open sales.
